Free software keeps old hardware alive
You have an old PDA, Handheld or iPod that you want to repurpose into a hackable music machine? Want to learn what you can do with Open Source software on embedded devices? This workshop is a place to get exposed to the possibilities.
Last year Hans-Christoph Steiner, Widget (Chris DiMauro) and Marius Schebella started the Reware Project at Eyebeam NYC (http://dev.eyebeam.org/projects/reware), hacking on some iPods, Internet Tablet PDAs… using the music software Pure Data to create Touch Screen Guitars, Sound Scratchers and Synthesizer Applications. Some of this software is kind of raw, but you can do lots of fun stuff.
