Jamming with and as Pastagang
We’ll introduce Nudel, the website where Pastagang members like yourself meet to jam. When you open Nudel at any time, you will likely hear music featuring synthesizers, bass drum, and crow noises. You will likely see stroboscopic visuals in the background. And you will certainly see a couple of other cursors there with you, jamming. We’d like you to join us! Jamming means several things. At the heart of Nudel is the live coding language Strudel. It’s great for concisely expressing musical ideas, and it runs in the browser, lowering the barrier to entry. For visuals, we tend to use the visual synthesizer language Hydra. But it goes beyond writing code in Nudel. When jamming in any situation, everyone is an admin, so we’ll also learn how to change the Nudel website itself, how to change Pastagang’s homepage, and even how to change this very workshop. Jamming is an art form. Don’t be afraid to change things. Maybe it will sound bad. Maybe it will break. That’s ok! Most importantly, don’t be afraid to delete code. You must delete.
Laptops are required for this workshop.
