What does it mean to solve a problem?
General Intelligence Agency (Of Ljubljana) is an emerging organization for collective intellectual consumption and production. To reflect GIA's double nature as a research and design organization, we will combine the format of a lecture with a workshop to outline the vision and (provisionary) practical implementation of better cognitive tools for new experiments in radically democratic and decentralized collaboration.
We will invite the audience to participate and try out a web-app prototype for personal and collective content management. Building on spaced repetition and Tinder-like matching ideas, it will help users filter through their content and afford connections based on shared expressions of interest.
In the workshop, we will alternate between thinking and using some of the concepts that form the core of GIA's activities (for example, cognitive infrastructure, problem-solution distance, etc.). We will move from some general considerations on problem solving to learning from the concrete decisions taken while developing the app prototype.
