Program 2012

Thursday 24.05.

09:30 – 11:00

We provide a nice breakfast!

Break

10:00 – 17:00

Possibilities presented by designing objects in a post CNC fabrication and computational world

A intense learning and creating experience. As a group or individual, the workshop aims to guide authentic expression with a design process. It sets a creative environment for generating ideas and concepts, understanding their potential, and developing them into objects that reflect your character and way of expression.

Workshop

11:00 – 17:00

Heath Bunting's Status Project shows how easily almost all of our movements and activities can be traced, whenever we supply seemingly innocuous data such as our name, e-mail or post address, credit card and bank account number etc., be it to apply for a library card or a BahnCard, to enter a mobile phone contract or to shop online. By matching and combining different databases, any person can be attributed with a social status, generated from all data available about that person - usually without the knowledge of the person in question.

Workshop

11:00 – 16:00

HiddenSignals is proposed to materialize and challenge the limits of human perception in art practice.

Using design/construction technics and useing of reverse engineering of industrial devices for analysis, transmission and listening visible or audible frequencies, the electromagnetic spectrum will be used as a creative resource within the research or artistic practice.

Participants will build a series of devices that modulate the unseen / unknown phenomenæ, materializing the results in different media or devices.

Workshop

13:00 – 17:00

Sound Tossing is an alternative type of street art that uses sound as a medium of creative expression in a public space. As the streets belong to the people, the intention is to appeal to anyone who wants to shape their acoustic space.

Urban Cricket Workshop:
The Urban Cricket is a solar powered sound generator and throwing tool build on low-end, analog electronics that produces sounds like a cricket. Step by step we are going to built the Urban Cricket and finally toss it in public space.

Workshop

14:00 – 20:00

Speaker: mik

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of Linux virtualization and storage techniques

Workshop

15:00 – 17:00

The Klackerlake (clack roach) is an invasive species, and a pest indeed: A crossbreed of vibrobot and LED-Throwie, equipped with poisonous button cells, whose remains might outlive us. In this workshop, children (and grown-ups) learn how to build their own solderless glowing vibrobot. No previous knowledge needed. Participants first explore how LEDs and motors work, and can then build their own designs.
This workshop is suitable for children age 8 or older (although younger children might be able to participate with some assistance). Children under age 12 should bring their parents.

Workshop

17:00 – 18:30

Pam and Peda are cooking for us. Food is free! If you want to donate some money this will support the project http://mulonga.linz.funkfeuer.at/

In the age of international telecommunications, global migration and the emergence of the information economy, how can class conflict and property be understood? Drawing from political economy and concepts related to intellectual property, The Telekommunist Manifesto is a contribution to commons-based, collaborative and shared forms of cultural production and economic distribution.

Restlichtverstärker is a Berlin music duo of Servando Barreiro and Malte Steiner, working together since 2011. They created a complex stepsequencing and soundsynthesis patch for Pure Data and work with two synchronized laptops via OSC. They augmenting their performances with generative visuals, also done in Pure Data. The music can be described as rhythmical Clicks And Cuts or IDM. With the open source Pure Data they found their ideal platform to collaborate, exchange and explore sequencing and synthesis concepts plus are able to include easily stock and custom hardware controllers.
